Honda's Strategic Testing Approach for the 2024 MotoGP Season

In a bid to capitalize on MotoGP's new concession system, Honda is set to maximize testing opportunities throughout the 2024 season, scheduling up to 22 private tests, as revealed by Motorsport.com. Following lacklustre performances in the previous year, both Honda and Yamaha, the sole Japanese contenders in the championship, have gained advantages through agreements with other manufacturers and governing bodies. Apart from ongoing engine development, Honda and Yamaha can conduct unlimited private test days with their race riders. Honda's primary focus on testing is evident, with an initial plan for an extensive private test calendar. However, this plan may be adjusted based on results and support reassessment during the summer break. While riders Joan Mir and Luca Marini may face scheduling challenges due to the packed 22-event season, the bulk of testing responsibilities will fall on the test team and Stefan Bradl.
